Troubleshooting of Panasonic Battery in UPS Operation
Time:2019-03-04    Source:Panasonic    Views:1071
When we use Panasonic batteries, there are more or less minor faults. Now let's explain the common faults of the batteries and how to deal with them. What kinds of faults are easy to encounter in the use of the batteries?
The general fault treatment of batteries includes: deviation of voltage balance from normal range (observation after forced charging), abnormal floating charge current (checking whether the cell voltage is abnormal, whether the battery is heated), checking discharge (10-hour rate or 3-hour rate capacity after charging, judging whether the capacity is insufficient), leakage of safety valve (non-leakage from inside to outside of the battery), etc.
When a charged battery is stored for a long time, its capacity will gradually decrease and become a state of discharge. This phenomenon is called self-discharge, and this phenomenon is unavoidable. Even if the battery has not been used, it will cause self-discharge due to chemical and electrochemical reactions inside the battery. The self-discharge of lead-acid batteries is described as follows:
A. Chemical factors, whether the active substance of the anode (PbO 2) or the cathode (Pb), need to be decomposed or reacted with sulfuric acid (electrolyte) step by step, and then transformed into more stable lead sulfate. This process is self-discharge.
B. Due to the presence of impure substances, local circuits or redox reactions with the poles will be formed in the battery, resulting in self-discharge. Because of the very low impurity content, the self-discharge capacity of the electrolyte of the power battery is very small, which is due to the ultra-strong retention characteristics of the battery.
(2) There is a close relationship between self-discharge and storage temperature of batteries.
Therefore, Panasonic batteries should be charged immediately after discharge, and the batteries should not be shelved for a long time after discharge; unnecessary batteries should be re-charged after shelving for a period of time until the capacity restores to the pre-storage level.
